This week we’re sharing our (v exclusive) NYC wedding guide, highlighting a new pizza spot, featuring mother’s day workshops and spilling the beans on the coolest pop-up happening in SoHo this week.

Impasto

Clinton Hill’s Impasto is expanding to Park Slope! The roman-style square pizza shop is operated by the same team behind buzzy pasta shop, La Rina. The square slices are indicative of the classic Pizza al Taglio common in Italy but rare in New York. PS for our dairy-free friends: Impasto’s menu has a handful of flavors that are totally cheeseless! The new location opens this Sunday, May 4th at 12p!

Thuma + Heller

Thuma + Heller are joining forces for the ultimate design pop-up at Thuma's 99 Wooster St SoHo flagship. Thuma is known for the bedroom, Heller(ware) is known for dining, and in a perfect crossover, they've created an immersive collection around the simple luxury of breakfast in bed. The Max Breakfast Set features iconic Hellerware and is available now in two new, limited-edition colors inspired by Thuma’s neutral palette and includes a pair of espresso cups, saucers, bowls and small plates. All made with recyclable and BPA & BPS-free materials,

You can also explore Heller’s rich design heritage with a curated archival display at the Thuma Flagship featuring original Heller dinnerware, packaging, and photography that’s shaped the brand’s iconic legacy. Delve into the story of the visionary Vignellis, the designers behind Hellerware (and other notable works like the New York subway map), detailing the innovations that continue to inspire modern design.

To celebrate the launch of the collaboration and bring the theme of breakfast in bed to life, Thuma has partnered with Win Son Bakery on two delish exclusives for the month of May. Stop by Cafe Thuma (also at 99 Wooster St.) to try their Black Sugar Kouign Amann & Golden Sesame Latte.

Join Bushwick’s Nose Best for a special Mother's Day fragrance experience! They will go through the art of candle making and reed diffuser creation using their custom scent library. During this intimate 2-hour experience, you will create two completely personalized fragrances. One for your hand-poured 10oz luxury candle, and another for your handmade luxury reed diffuser. Plus, you'll go home with a locally made flower bouquet and a $5 gift certificate to their store! Snag your spot!

As it would happen, this week’s newsletter coincides with the celebration of our second wedding anniversary. This time in 2023, we were saying our vows in Prospect Park on the rainiest and most perfect day of the year. Looking back on the weeks and months leading up to our wedding, we realized that we have a mental rolodex of amazing NYC-based independent wedding vendors.

In this exclusive guide we’ll share our picks for NYC wedding vendors by category and talk about who we chose for our own wedding, and toss in some of our favorite wedding photos along the way! Just a little reminder that even more than usual, this guide is a reflection of our personal style and is in no way exhaustive of all the amazing vendors across our city!

This is a special edition guide for subscribers at the paid tier. Upgrade to get all the best recommendations for NYC-based wedding vendors and venues plus full access to the coolstuff.nyc newsletter archive and additional newsletters!
