Bernie & Herb’s
Nestled in what was once the VIP room of the Union Square Coffee Shop lies Bernie & Herb’s: the new dive-adjacent bar that is exactly what the neighborhood needed. Here you can take shelter from corporate chains and instead indulge in a $3 hot dog and a cheap beer. Put together by some longtime employees of 169 Bar in the Lower East Side, this new spot does feel a little more upscale than it’s predecessor, but maintains all the charm of a well loved neighborhood watering hole. Open daily from 2p-2a!
Apapacho Comedor
While LA has long held the crown, New York City is definitely having a moment when it comes to Mexican food. The latest opening on the ever-growing list of hotspots is Apapacho Comedor in Park Slope - a new restaurant from the team behind Alma Negra. The new concept on Brooklyn’s 5th ave takes Mexico-city cuisine and turns up the dial on flavor and luxury with housemade tortillas like their duck mole negro.
Ven. Archive
We’ve kept our lips sealed on this neighborhood secret for a little while, but now that it’s public knowledge we’re passing it along to you asap! If you’ve ever wandered into the menswear mecca that is Ven. Space and wished the price tag was just a bit more attainable, then Ven. Archive is for you. The new auxiliary location a few blocks from the original will have a mix of samples, one-offs, and out-of-season pieces at a significant discount. Open Thursdays-Sundays 12-6p at 163 President St in Carroll Gardens.

Anna grew up right in Savannah, and both she and Garrett attended the Savannah College of Art and Design. The presence of SCAD can be felt all around the city. It’s a huge reason why there is such an artsy feel to downtown Savannah, and many SCAD graduates end up opening small businesses and restaurants in the city that nurtured their creativity.

Meet Trish Wescoat Pound, the New York-based founder and creative director behind the eponymous TWP, a label built on effortless American sportswear. Think heritage workwear meets men’s shirting meets unmistakable New York edge: a sparkly skirt from a night out downtown, a perfectly banded cuff from a day sketching in the studio. Trish is constantly hunting the globe for the best fabrics and makers, but her point of view never leaves the city. These days she designs alongside her daughter Jillian, a stylist, and we caught up with her to hear more about the inspiration behind her increasingly popular line of womenswear.
