This week we’re sharing where to get your pool-fix & catch film clubs and music festivals this summer, highlighting our picks for the coolest spots to watch the world cup games, featuring food & drink pop-ups and chatting about our favorite things in June in our monthly column.

Babydudes at King Tai

As beloved Crown Heights cocktail bar, King Tai Bar, marks 11 years under their belt, they’re giving the people what they want with a permanent food menu, thanks to local culinary duo, Hannah Jacobs and Tali Petschek of Babydudes. Alongside an amaro-laden piña colada, you can enjoy a shrimp cocktail or a perfectly pressed cubano on Thursday - Sundays. While King Tai’s food offering traditionally followed a pop-up structure, this permanent food program gives patrons more reasons, access points, and occasions to gather.

Grimm Travern

Something special arrives today in Prospect Heights: Grimm Tavern. The newest project from award-winning Grimm Artisanal Ales, Grimm Tavern is a cozy, approachable American tavern centered on classic dishes, a focused cocktail list, and beverage program featuring tons of Grimm Ales and wines from their sister label, Physica Wines. Open Tuesday-Sunday, beginning at 5p with late night and lunch hours launching soon!

Capitaine

Capitaine, the new restaurant from the team behind Chateau Royale and Libertine, is now open at 684 Greenwich Street in the West Village. This new hot-spot is a seafood tavern inspired by New York’s great oyster bars and taverns found across Europe. Located in the former Libertine space, the team has completely reimagined the restaurant and developed both the food and beverage programs. Come in for an excellent raw bar, tavern classics like their American Wagyu Burger, and caviar service (including a nod to Grand Central Oyster Bar’s famed Caviar sandwich!) Capitaine is open every day beginning at 5p, with walk-ins welcome and reservations available here.

Aēsop Queer Library

In honor of Pride Month, Aesop is back with their annual literary initiative celebrating LGBTQIA2S+ voices through complimentary books from queer authors. Aesop Queer Library, now in its sixth year, has distributed more than 115,000 books globally and is returning this weekend in partnership with the ACLU. Stop by the Aesop Nolita to see the space transformed into a Main Branch Library today through Sunday, with the chance to select a complimentary title from a curated collection of works by authors including Audre Lorde, James Baldwin, and Kristin Arnett.

Aesop Park Slope will also host a dedicated Reading Room experience - a smaller scale version of the Library - throughout the activation period.

Galerie Sardine

Coolstuff fave, Galerie Sardine, has returned to their Amagansett gallery with the opening of There, When: Kritika Manchanda & Rafael Prieto. The artists’ work is guided by a sustained attention to the fragile ways experience is recorded, retained, and transformed. Throughout the exhibition, fabric functions as both medium and metaphor. Drawing upon the complex cultural legacy of cloth in India, Manchanda’s works suggest how political and cultural memory can remain embedded within material itself. Prieto, by contrast, turns his attention toward the poetic residues of everyday life: laundry suspended between buildings, weathered surfaces marked by time, subtle gestures that evoke human presence. Catch the show now until July 6th at 261 Main Street, Amagansett.

This weekend, to celebrate the World Cup, Shopify NY is teaming up with Saturdays Football and Paolo Tolentino for three days of football fun &&& viewings of the matches. This group exhibition turns the World Cup into art you can touch, wear, and take home like pieces from NY-based artists, a custom heat-press & airbrush station, and vintage & limited drops of rare jerseys. Things kick off today with a happy hour from 5-8p, roll into a super Saturday tomorrow from 11a-8p, and round out on Sunday with a marketplace from 11a-5p.

Oh yeah, and the first 150 guests through the door each day score free giveaways! Get all the info and the RSVP to this weekend of free events here.

Visit the Clubhouse

This is our summer of rooftop pools in the city, and we just found the next stop on our swim tour. This summer, SoHo’s The Dominick is turning their outdoor swim zone into an elevated skincare concierge ~experience~, with Vacation Sunscreen. You can expect a poolside menu of sunscreen needs from the Classic Whip lotion to the Super Spritz Face Mist and Chardonnay Lip Oil & a signature cocktail The Dominick’s poolside restaurant El Ta’Koy. Snag a spot at the pool to join in on the summer fun.
